Thoughts about Newgrounds...

Newgrounds seems to have many problems bubbling under its appealing and ( overall ) user friendly exterior. Let me explain...

1) Why in the world is the only way to gain experience is 10 a day, thats it?? Cmon, you could give 1 exp for every vote and 2 exp for every review. You could give experience for submitting something and it gets points based on the rating it gets. A normal score gets 1, a great score 3, and an awesome score 5. Front Page, 10 points. These are just off the top of my head too. Give people some sort of incentive other than, "If i vote on 500 submissions ill get an extra 2% voting power!"

Also, people do not vote or review, they just play your game or watch your movie and move on. I have 2,200 views on my latest submisson and only 300 votes. what is that like 15% of the people who play it vote? And 16 reviews, so 1% of people who play it review it? Thats just not good numbers statistically. It takes all the fun out of getting your flash reviewed because people don't take any of this seriously. They vote 5 or 0, and thats it. This needs to be fixed. I mean if thats the case then force people to at least vote on what they just played/watched, it would take them a mouse click, what does that take, 1 maybe 2 seconds?

Also, I have submitted the same game 4 times, Final Fantasy 7 Trivia, and it has gotten a progressively worse score except for the latest entry. What is that? We are talking about THE SAME DAMN GAME with each installment having more content, more polish, more galleries, smaller files, better music, ect. My point? The scores mean less than nothing. And if that is in fact true, then newgrounds entire structure is destroyed.

Does anyone else agree with me on this? I mean there is nothing worse than upgrading your game in just about every way possible to get a noticably worse score. What is the point?

Let me know what you guys think. Newgrounds, better than every, or getting worse as time goes by?

Well on the voting thing, yeah there SHOULD be some other way to get more experience BUT it can't be abusable either, you could just write 1 word reviews y'know and that may make things worse.

As for you stuff, people DON'T want trivia games dude, whether or not they're upgraded -_-. The website probably has teens as the main viewers (like myself) and don't want to be quizzed at home too, plus there isn't really THAT much to say about trivia games.

So on the first part I agree with you to a certain extent, second no...

Yea but even if its a trivia game, regardless of what type of game it is, or what type of movie, the whole point of newgrounds is to submit, get feedback, make it better, and resubmit. What is the point if your score gets lower the more work you do, it doesn't matter if its a shooter, platformer, quiz, soundboard.....

I think that the main problem is that you must give to them WHAT THEY WANT, I mean, guys of newgrounds are almost all 20-25 years old. What normal people wanted to see on flashes at this age ? sex, violence, nudity, etc... So we should maybe go on check the most popular games/movies past on newgrounds. We'll have a good viewpoint for take great decisions on "what is my next flash".

Yea but the inherent flaws of the newgrounds rating system still remains. This is a good idea, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really fix anything, I think Newgrounds needs to make a huge change or people are going to not care anymore. When i first got into flash I loved Newgrounds, but after seeing that the more work you put into a project the lower the score will be, it makes it very obvious to me that there are people out there who just vote 0 to be a dick and will vote 5 for no reason at all. The system is utterly broken. Its a damn shame if you ask me....

I do agree with what you say, about earning more experience, but I have a feeling that with the votes that it will probably be abused, but if they did the reviews based on how many actual words there were in the review, like 1 xp for between 0 and 200 words and 5 xp between 200 and 500 words and even 10 xp for between 500 and 1000, it could be pretty good. but I dunno.
about your projects, I indeed see very few trivia games on Newgrounds, but your game doesn't completely suck because it is based on a popular game final fantasy. but I do understand on the other hand that the interest for it is low. because what I mostly see are action movies/games. and one is better than the other, as I usually say. and I ain't sure, but I do believe that there could be another way to not have 4 times the same game on newgrounds. but don't ask me how. I have no experience in that whatsover.

I at least can say that, even though others might say otherwise, that I mostly do agree with what you say.
